ok well sorry for not updating in a few weeks but these last few weeks have been hectic. i got called by the stake secterary and asked to give a talk in stake confrence so i had to prepare that, had an essay, a few tests to study for the list goes on and on. so stake confrence was today and i about died i was so nervous. but according to everyone that was there i did a really good job. i will post my talk at the end of this post. im just glad it is over. :) i told my bishop ok i guess this gets me out of giving a talk in sacrement meeting for a long time huh? ;) well ill post later. this week is fall break so thats exciting!! :)
A few years ago while in Salt Lake my cousin took a picture of the Salt Lake temple. He saved this picture as his wallpaper on his cell phone and put the phrase, “I’m taking her there“ across the picture. That really struck me. We are taught from the time that we are in primary that we need to live worthy to get married in the temple. But when I saw that on his phone, it really made me think wow I need to do everything I can now, because if I mess up that could be it. My hope and dream that I have had ever since I was a little girl could be over. Getting married in the temple is my ultimate goal. I don’t want to get married anywhere but in the Lord’s sacred house. So I need to do everything I can now to prepare. Even though my parents might not like it that day is approaching fast. Life fly’s by.
Last year we were able to go to the San Diego Temple when my oldest cousin, Josh received his endowment. My cousins and I had the opportunity to walk around the temple grounds while Josh and the adults were in the temple. It was an awesome experience to be on the temple grounds with all my cousins. This made me realize again that this is the Lord’s sacred house and reinforced my goal that I want to live worthy so I can get married there someday.
Shortly after the new general Young Women’s presidency was called they climbed to the top of Ensign Peak. Sister Dalton said, “We hiked to the top of Ensign Peak, and as we looked on the valley below, we saw the temple with the angel Moroni shining in the sun. For each of us, it was clear. The vision for our presidency was the temple. And our responsibility was also clear. We must “help prepare each young woman to be worthy to make and keep sacred covenants and receive the ordinances of the temple.”
Focusing on the Temple and on my goal of being married in the Temple, helps me keep everything in perspective and make wise choices.
Steve Young once said “If we are going to play the game of life, we can assume that we’re going to throw a few interceptions, or make a few mistakes from time to time. Often we face situations in which it feels as though we are throwing blind, we must make decisions without knowing exactly what the consequences will be. But if we have good coaches to mentor us and teach us the fundamentals, and good friends to help us keep track of what we’ve learned, we are in a much better position to make the right moves.”
I’m grateful for the Young Women’s leaders that I’ve had and for the influence they have had on my life. Also for the great friends I have that help keep me on the straight and narrow.
A few years back a group of the young women from my ward decided we all wanted to go see a movie together. We were all over 13 and thought oh lets go see this movie (it was PG-13). So we went and right off the bat there was a lot of bad language being used. We sat through it all thinking to ourselves this will get better. But like 20 min into the movie it was still bad. One of the girls said something to someone about maybe we should leave then it got passed down the line. All of us girls felt the same way so we got up and left. This was easy to do since we all have the same morals. I think if I would have been with a different group of girls this would have been a lot harder to stand up for what I believe in.
President Monson in the recent New Era said, “Don’t be afraid to walk out of a movie, turn off the T.V., change a radio station or put down a book if what’s being presented does not meet your Heavenly Father’s standards. In short if you have any questions about it turn it off or put it away.“
We live in a world that is filled with filth and sleaze, a world that reeks with evil. (there are many things trying to tempt us and lead us astray)
You cannot afford to let that filthy poison touch you (once is all it takes. Why take the risk?)
Shun it like the plague (avoid temptation all together)
One way that I stay clean is by avoiding bad language and taking the Lord’s name in vain. Profanity is the sign of an uneducated, uncultured, careless man or woman. Language like that makes you appear as someone who has no respect for anything sacred.
Dressing modestly is a constant struggle with everyone around wearing a cute tank top, dress that’s to short or short shorts you just want to fit in and wear those clothes to. But if we can come to truly understand that we are children of God, we will overcome our desires to dress like the world.
By choosing the Lord’s side, we can rise above the temptations of our moral existence, and that will guarantee us peace and happiness in this life as well as in the life to come.
Even though we may see staying clean as an inconvenience, it helps us spiritually, physically, mentally, and in other ways we don’t even realize.
There are many things we need to do to fortify against sin we cant just wait till it faces us and then make the decision we need to have already made that choice.
Pres. Hinckley in his Way to Be book says
“Be Clean. Be clean in every way. Some day you will meet the man or woman of your dreams. Be clean for the sake of your future companion. Be clean for the sake of your posterity.”
My goal is to stay clean so that I can find someone to take me to the temple and have my goal come true of “he’s taking me there”
I know that I need to make the decisions now like saying no to drugs and other stuff like that so that if I am faced with that choice I will already know that I have chosen not to do that. And will be less likely to stray from the path having already made that choice. I also know that Christ die for us so that we could make mistakes and repent for them. I am so grateful that I have the church in my life without it I know I would not be the person I am today.
In the name of Jesus Christ Amen

Has This EVER happened to You?
have you ever had this done to your car? well i now can say i have!! when i walked out of early morning sem. this morning (yes i have early morning meaning i have to be at the church at 6!!) this is what i saw on my truck. and the sides were silly stringed. i guess i kinda deserved it though. last night at mutual i wrote a note to this guy my dad is friends with that loves to make fun of me telling him that i was going to beat him to sem. he takes his son in the morning so i see him everyday. (my dad has told me that if i dont get to sem. on time i cant drive, so i get there on time this year) well i put that on his seat and told his son to go in and tell his dad he wanted to leave. :) in the mean time this kid jumps in the trunk of Chuck's PTCruiser waiting to scare him when he drove off. well Chuck comes out reads the note and locks his car and goes back into the church. not knowing theres a kid now locked in the trunk. :) Brenden (the kid in the trunk) starts screaming bloody murder. it was so funny. he finally gets out by climbing over the seat and setting the alarm off. and runs at me. well i run off and hop in my truck and leave. so this is what i got this morning. i am expecting more tomorrow. :)

Dark Knight
I just got home from seeing this movie and it was pretty SWEET!!! i wouldnt recommend it for kids though. (my mom read somewhere if you arent old enough to drive yourself to the theater you might be to young). there was alot of violence and some gross images. but im not going to say anything to ruin it. i really liked this movie and in my option it was alot better than the first even though i have only seen the first one once. i will def. be watching this movie again. i might like it better than spiderman. i havent quite decided if i do or not yet. i will let you know later. it is a SICK movie :)

Sunsplash
This is how we spend like 7 hours today. at sunsplash water park in roseville. it was so much fun but the sky was definitely not blue at all. it was gray with smoke. since we have had all the fires burning in the state i dont think i have seen the sky in awhile. it was really fun and there were smaller lines than there have been when i have gone in the past. but it kinda got old going on all the rides a bunch of times. i got sick of the sun :(

What happens when a water fight breaks out!!!

Ok so we were over at our friends house for her 32nd birthday party and my YW's pres husband who always like to tease and make fun of me decided to throw a cup of water at me and then it broke out from there. and for some reason (my cell phone was at stake) i was not allowed to be involved in the water fight at all even though i was the one that first got wet. how does that work??? then everyone ended up getting thrown in the pool and i finally gave in and fought back. (i still have my phone :)) it took 2 guys to throw me in but they got me. anyways this is what your bathroom looks like when you have 5 girls involved in a water fight.

Boating!!!!

This is how we spend last night. PEACE!!!
Well last night was my first time out on my boat this year. It was fun. but I found out the I lost most my upper arm strength. :( I normally can go forever on the kneeboard but last night I could only be out there for like 5 min before it felt like my arms were going to give out. I better gain it back this summer. It was sad. The water felt amazing when I jumped in and didnt ever want to get out. It feels so good to be back out on the boat. I can't wait to get back out on the lake again.

Daughter of a King, Letter (MUST READ)

CAMP!!!!!!!
(It's a long post so make sure not to miss anything) So this last week I was at girls camp. The camp song was Daughter of a King. It is an amazing song, i will add it to my playlist and post the words. One of the day's themes was I Can live happily ever after. For devo that night I read my girls a letter I had gotten a few years ago in YW's. I have it framed next to my bed because I love it so much!!! I will post that to. We learned so much at camp, some of the things included that it doesn't matter what the world thinks its what you think, we all have unique qualities, and lots of other things. Camp was so much fun, and all the girls loved all the decorations and stuff I had for them.
This is a picture of on top of our table that we ate all our meals at.
On thursday all the Junior Staff and Big Sisters (YCL's) went to Donner Lake. It was so much fun!!! But the water was amazingly cold. I was on a boat the whole day with people in my old ward. It was so much fun. The water was really choppy so I didn't do anything but tube. His tube is just like mine where its a 3 seater that you sit in (the big yellow one). We were on the tube for probably 10 sec before he whipped us around a corner and we got probably 4 feet of air. It was insane. I think we held the record all day for the most air. Then Friday was Bishop's night. But before the Bishop's night stuff started I threw tomahaks (they are like axes). I hit like 45% of the ones I threw. It was soooo much fun. I will definately want to do that again. Then it was on to Bishop's night. We had a bunch of different Bishop's games and the one our ward dominated was 20 questions. We really know our Bishop. :).
We dressed Bishop up as a Knight. (He is the one with the CTR shield).
Another one of the games was creating a unique sandcastle. The thing we decided to make was the SLC temple. It turned out pretty good.
Everybodys dirty hands :)
The top view of the Temple.
Bishop's dirty hands on the left. He is one of the only Bishop's that got there hands dirty in the sand. We are proud of you Bishop.
I LOVE CAMP!!!!!!! I look forward to it every year unlike some people I know!!!!

Lazy Day
Today was a lazy day. I stayed in my P.J.'s all day till we decided we wanted to go to Friday night market now Thursday night market. This year is a total let down. Normally it is on like 4 streets downtown. Tonight it was just on 1. Hopefully later in the Summer it will be better. Also I weaded like 20 Daughter of a King sayings that my mom is doing for girls camp. I did it for like an hour and it hurt my hands, I dont no how my mom can do it for hours on hand. Now I no why she charges labor fees. :)

Dancing Princesses
The Left Side, with the cute bow
The right side with the ballet slippers
And the poster, we made 2 of these
For Young Womens tonight we did a Fear Factor type thing. My friend Katie was in charge and since she was over at my house all day working on the camp stuff I helped her with the Fear Factor food. It was pretty gross. We did Boogers on a Stick (this was just the spray cheese with green food coloring in it to make it look like boogers on stick pretzels), Chocolate Covered Worms (chocolate covered green beans), Poopy Diaper (babyruth candy bar melted and put inside a diaper), Potty Diaper (a diaper soaked in 7up then sweezed out in front of the kids for the effect), Day Old Bath Water (this was definately the favorite. It was actually pretty good. It was frozen lemonade, sherbet, and 7up mixed together and we added food coloring to make it look grayish) Tofu. Yes we did make them eat this stuff!! Then after that was done we had the kids come up one by one blindfolded and fed them different kinds of Baby Food and made them guess the kind. It was a really fun night!!

Now I am getting ready to go into my Junior year!! Time flys and its crazy!!! This Summer is going to go by so fast expecially since I will be gone for most of it.
